About the role

The Development Associate will support the development, acquisition, and financing of greenfield wind and solar projects across Africa. The activity will include managing greenfield project development, participating in tenders, assessing green hydrogen opportunities and supporting acquisition of third-party developments. Both on-grid and off-grid renewables may be considered.

The projects will be located in various African countries, with the first projects located in Niger, & Chad. Cameroon, Senegal and North Africa are also areas of interest.

The Development Associate will report to the head of the renewable energy division and work in close cooperation with teams based in London and Africa.

Role Responsibilities

  • Identification, screening and acquisition of potential development projects and sites
  • Manage development of greenfield projects: land rights, permits, wind/solar measurements, grid studies;
  • Project feasibility evaluations
  • Assisting in preparing government-organised project tenders;
  • Financial modelling & optimisation of economics in cooperation with our engineering team
  • Participating in key stakeholder meetings with government, consultants and contractors;
  • Negotiation and management of co-development agreements;
  • Support in the due diligence process prior to acquisition of immature projects.

Skills and Experiences

  • Degree in engineering, science, economics or similar; post graduate studies with a focus on renewable energies or project management will be considered a plus
  • Minimum 5 years’ hands-on experience in power or infrastructure project development;
  • Experience of working on projects in frontier environments


  • Fluent English and French
  • Able to travel throughout Africa & Europe
